Undergraduate Certificate Program – On Hold 2012-2013
THE SXL certificate is on hold for the 2012-2013 year so we won’t be signing students up for the program until it has been restructured.
Current students will receive the certificate when they complete the requirements and graduate.
There are still options for a Program II major in sexuality studies and graduation with distinction; see below.
STUDY ABROAD
Study Abroad programs with a sexuality studies focus include:
- World Learning’s program in Netherlands: International Perspectives on Sexuality and Gender.
- Gender and Sexuality in Thailand at Payap University, Thailand.
PROGRAM II MAJOR
There currently is no major in Sexuality Studies. Students interested in studying sexuality beyond the offerings of the certificate program can consider applying for a Program II curriculum, in dialogue with their advisors and the Program II staff. The Program II application must make clear why the subject cannot be realized in an already established major.
GRADUATION WITH DISTINCTION IN SEXUALITY STUDIES
With this new option at Duke, students can pursue a major project (usually a thesis) concerning sexuality studies that does not have to be based in a major. See information about Graduation with Distinction (scroll down for outside the major information). For help with the application, framing a topic, and selecting relevant faculty, consult the SXL director in by spring term of your junior year.
